The Boys are back in Town!
With both F1’s and F2’s in World Championship qualifiers at
Northampton, this Saturday, the booking list is looking fantastic!
41 ones are booked at the time of writing and 55 twos, so it
promises to be a cracking meeting.
Currently the F1’s will be a two thirds format, although with just a
few more late bookings, that may well turn into a 2 heats and
consolation event.
It will be a two heats/cons schedule for the F2’s with the numbers
booked.
First race at Northampton on Saturday is 6.30pm.
Stock Rod ORCi European Championship
The very cream of Stock Rod drivers will be battling for this top
title at Hednesford on Sunday, with a 40 car entry of the top
drivers from UK and Ireland.
There will be two reverse grid, 25 lap heats with the highest points
scorers at the front of 40 lap Championship Final.
Whilst current World Champion Stu Fox will be looking to add yet
another title to his array of success over the years, there will be
many others that will think different.
The Stock Rods are joined the the Incarods and Hot Fords racing
together, in yet another 40 car grid, so the action there should be
very interesting indeed. Lets hope that the crashing part of the
meeting is left to the Unlimited Bangers.
Racing starts on Sunday at 1.30pm.

INCARACE VICTORIOUS !

Well Done to Joey Holmes and his superb team of drivers who just
blew the Spedeworth opposition away, including a complete
annihilation of ALL the Spedeworth cars in the Final at Birmingham
Wheels in the long awaited Incarace vs Spedeworth 30 on 30 Team
Race.
Incarace got off to a good start in Heat 1 with Spedeworth only
managing a lone top 8 position with second place. This was however
upgraded to a win when the Incarace winner failed post race
scrutineering with a tyre irregularity. The points still stacked in
Incarace’s favour with a 28 – 8 advantage at this early stage.
Heat 2 was a similar affair with front running Incarace drivers, but
the final result did see the second Heat win of the night for
Spedeworth. Incarace occupied 6 of the remaining 7 point scoring
positions and secured a heat 25-11 advantage, increasing the overall
position to 53-19.
Heat 3 was an excellent race with the lead changing several times.
Incarace did manage a heat win in this one, with Ryan Davies taking
the chequered flag, with Spedeworth second, but for the third race
running, Incarace secured a heat advantage with Spedeworth only
managing one other place – and that was 8th! So, with a repeat score
from heat 1 of 28-8, Incarace moved into the final with a massive
overall lead – 81-27 to be exact.
So, Incarace only needed a handful of places to secure a famous win,
but was it to be or would Spedeworth inflict the final blows to
destroy the hearts of this super Incarace team? Far, far from it, in
fact – quite the opposite in fact – totally unbelievably fantastic
in fact, Incarace just moved up another gear in the final and
totally destroyed the opposition with a resounding victory in the
double pointed Final – just 7 cars finished – BUT, they were ALL
Incarace, so a 70-0 points score in the final meant a superb overall
score of
INCARACE – 151, SPEDEWORTH – 27
Our very proud captain, Joey Holmes, who himself was doubtful of
taking part right up to a couple of days before, took the winning
Team Trophy from our Managing Director Deane Wood and assembled his
winning troops for a well deserved Team photo.
Joey has been saying for weeks now that his team were really up for
it this year and this turned out to be almost an understatement –
WELL DONE JOEY and WELL DONE to all of the INCARACE TEAM DRIVERS – a
great night.
It does of course take two teams to run an event like this and we
would of course like to thank all of the SPEDEWORTH drivers for
making the effort to attend and come up to Birmingham with a full
team. It was probably a longer journey home for the Spedeworth boys
this year after their victory in 2009, but I can guess that a few of
those drivers were already talking about the return leg at Aldershot
in August and planning what could well be the revenge match of the
year!
Again, well done to all drivers, mechanics, Staff and Officials, for
putting on a great show of racing.

INCARACE NEWS UPDATE
What a weekend that was!
The word ‘problem’ seemed to follow us all over the place this last
weekend - not sure if anyone had failed to salute that lone magpie
or something.
Saturday at Wheels saw injuries to Mini Stox youngsters Cameron
McGowan and Declan Kaye with Cameron clattering the back straight
wall in one of the heats and then Declan inexplicably mounted the
City Bend infield banking and promptly crashed in the new Pace Car's
boot - actually transporting the boot and the car back onto the
track via the infield steps! So that little escapade cost Declan a
few stars in his eyes with slight concussion, a very twisted and
sorry looking Audi boot lid and completely demolished infield steps!
Earlier in the evening, the PA Amplifier threw a wobbly and despite
sterling efforts to fix it on site, no one did hear the dulcet tones
of Dave Goddard much past 7.15pm!
So, Pace Car and Amplifier are now in the respective workshops in
readiness for this coming weekend.
Off to Sunny Brafield on Sunday then and a great day was planned for
two Spedeworth visiting formulas (2.0 Hot Rods and Junior Rods),
plus our very own Bangers and the 2010 debut for the Grand Prix
Midgets on Incarace tracks.
Race one for the Junior Rods was only a couple of laps old when it
had to be stopped for a stricken car on turn one and then at the
re-start, two cars went into the turn one fence quite hard for yet
another stoppage! Callum Peters gave the medics concern and the
youngster was extricated from the car and taken to hospital for a
check up. He had all of the necessary x-rays etc and it was great to
see him back at the track before the end of the meeting with a clean
bill of health, so well done Callum and hope to see you soon again.
We understand that he even went to school on Monday too!
And if that wasn’t enough, one of our Banger drivers started feeling
unwell in the pits after heat 1, when he was loading this car back
on the truck, and this progressed to severe chest pains and a trip
in one of our ambulances, with the Doctor, who was quite worried
about him. This really was the final straw of the weekend, as we had
to stop racing whilst the Doctor attended the hospital with the
patient.
Racing did resume, with some great Final action, so thanks and well
done to all of the very patient drivers and indeed the spectators.
I was informed by the drivers daughter that he did actually
experience a small heart attack, so it was most definitely right for
the Doctor to make that call and go with him to the hospital. He is
now back home following a small operation and well on the road to
recovery.
So, the end of quite a traumatic weekend – let’s look forward to a
really great Bank Holiday weekend coming with three great meetings
on the way!
I Factor Event 2 – Birmingham Wheels – Saturday 1st May
After a really good start with the first of our new I Factor
meetings in early April, Event 2 will feature no less than SEVEN
formulas and offer fans a bumper 21 race format with all formulas
having 2 heats and a Final. Our own Hot Fords and Incarods are
joined again by the Modstox, MASCARS and Slick Cars, all of which
performed really well at Event 1, plus this time we have Stoxkarts
and Grand Prix Midgets joining the grid – There are currently 121
cars booked to race, and bookings are still coming in.
Should be a great night of racing – Have you got the I Factor?
May Day Bank Holiday Monday – 3rd May – Hednesford Hills – 1.30pm
Its ‘Caravan’ time on Monday at Hednesford Hills with the Annual
Caravan Grand Prix. Local lady Marion Waters has kindly donated her
caravan to one of the drivers today. The caravan was bought in 1989
and since then has travelled all over the country visiting Scotland,
Wales and Cornwall. Marion and her late husband had some lovely
holidays in it, but when he became ill, the caravan was sited at
Willowbrook Farm in Alrewas where they had some great times, many
BBQ's and parties although it is a small van it's amazing how many
people will fit in if it rains lol! It will be sad to see it go but
too many memory's for Marion to get on with her life without her
dear husband Geoff. Marion does think it will be a fun way for it to
go, not just scrapped and can have some fun watching it go, so,
‘turn it on lads’ lets see em’ go crash, bang and wallop…the
frustration will be gone!!
The National Hot Rods will be the headline formula earlier in
proceedings in a World Qualifier, sponsored by Image Wheels and the
Stock Rods will be there in numbers trying to get valuable practice
for the forthcoming ORCi European Championship in a couple of weeks
time. The Rebel Racers never fail to entertain and the Bangers will
be crashing as ever, in readiness for the main event with the
Caravans. It all finishes with a DD, which will include any Bangers
that don’t take part in the Caravan race to let then finish of their
cars – should be a great day.
May Day Bank Holiday Monday – 3rd May – Northampton International
– 1.30pm
Its a cracking entry list for NIR on Monday, with 30 V8 Hot Stox, 32
Legends, 35 Lightning Rods and whilst there are currently only 14
National Bangers booked, that will more than likely increase on the
day.
The Hot Stox make their 2010 debut on Incarace tracks and if 2009
was anything to go by, they will be superb and more than often match
their big brothers of the tracks, BriSCA F1’s. The formula has
really started to come good again having been in the doldrums a
little over the last five years ago, but Chairman Darren Summers is
doing a great job and the grids, even at this early stage of the
season are very encouraging.
The Oval Track Legends provide their own style of close racing and
never cease to amaze. Licences are up again in 2010, so this formula
is looking to go places over the next couple of years. Des Chandler,
one of the three original Legends drivers who put on a demonstration
race at the Easter Meeting at Hednesford in 1998 will be headlining
the customary Grand Parade before racing starts where he will
announce to the crowd that he will be running in a 5 mile ‘Heroes
Run’ raising money for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland
Air Ambulance, who of course transported him to hospital after his
near fatal crash at Mallory Park, almost two years ago.
Lightning Rods almost seem to have a new lease of life in 2010,
maybe with the added incentive of the Points Champion being given
the chance to race in the South African winter series in January
2011 in a 2.0 Hot Rod, sponsored by our Promoter Deane Wood.
The National Bangers will be racing, this time without the use of
the ‘best’ car at the moment for racing, the Ford Mondeo. This gives
drivers the chance to race something different for a change and it
will be interesting to see just what they bring out. It will of
course end with the traditional Demolition Derby.
Sounds like a great meeting too at NIR – you just now need to decide
where to go!
INCARACE vs SPEDEWORTH BANGER TEAM EVENT
Saturday 8th May – Birmingham Wheels (Start Time 6.45pm)
The Banger racing on the night will now feature the first leg of the
return team event with Spedeworth. Whilst Incarace finally lost this
tie last year, it was a fantastic meeting and our boys are really up
for reversing the result this year and sending the Spedeworth boys
home with their tails between their legs!
Joey Holmes is the Captain of the Incarace Team and he has put a
great list of drivers together which should provide the Spedeworth
team with a real headache. Mini Stox, MASCARS and the fabulous Rebel
Racers provide all of the support that will mean it should be a
cracking night of racing and certainly not one to miss!
There will be a return leg later in the year at Aldershot on Sunday
August 22nd, 1pm, but the boys need your support next Saturday first
– be there!!
26 June – Bangers at Birmingham Wheels
A further change to the fixture list on 26th June sees the Bangers
in another special meeting with an all Rear Wheel Drive meeting.
Cars will be built to normal Banger spec and will also be allowed to
weld the differential for this one-off meeting. There has been lots
of interest in this meeting already, so certainly one to pop in the
diary now, even at this early stage. BriSCA F2’s, Grand Prix Midgets
and the Rebel Racers are also on the bill that evening.

SPEEDWEEKS FINALE
The final of the third annual March Speedweeks championship for
BriSCA F2 Stock Cars takes place at Birmingham Wheels Raceway this
Saturday.
Three qualifiers have been held in the previous three weeks at the
Bordesley Green quarter mile to determine the grid for the first F2
championship race of 2010, and drivers from all over the UK and
beyond have attended in their efforts to get onto the grid.
Reading’s Chris Bradbury (886) and West Country based Chevy Mills
(538) have been the fastest drivers in the qualifying rounds with
several wins between them, Bradbury’s total including two meeting
finals in the last fortnight. Such is the nature of F2 racing at
Wheels, however, that any driver on the grid for the big race could
find success.
There’s also chance to see what both BriSCA F2 and F1 were like in
days gone by courtesy of the BriSCA Heritage Cars. This fascinating
mix of both faithfully produced replicas and original stock cars of
the past – some dating back to the 1950s – not only look superb but
produce excellent race action wherever they appear around the UK.
Cars to watch out for include the extraordinary six-wheeled F1 of
John Stirk (65) and the ‘50s original of Duncan Bell (28), plus a
real mix of different designs in the F2s.
The small but spectacular Rebel Racers complete the programme in the
850cc machines’ first meeting on tarmac in 2010. Current World
Champion Graham Charlesworth (53) top scored at the season opener on
the shale at Belle Vue, but he will have his work cut out to do
likewise tonight against a quality field of drivers.
Birmingham Wheels Raceway is situated off Landor Street in the
Bordesley Green area, close to St Andrew’s football ground. For sat
nav users, the postcode is B8 1AD. Action gets underway at 6.45pm
sharp.
Admission prices are just £12 for adults and £6 for children, with
family tickets available at just £30 (admitting two adults and up to
three children). Admission includes a souvenir programme, and great
viewing is available from both turns and the home straight, with hot
and cold food and a licensed bar on offer throughout the night plus
various other trade stands. The pits are also open to the public, so
fans can take a closer look at the stars and their cars.

BriSCA F2 INCARACE SPEDEWEEK SERIES
This Saturday's (6 March) first race meeting of the new national Stock Car
season will mark the start of the Spedeweek Series for BriSCA F2 Stock Cars.
The Spedeweek Series will move into its third year, with BriSCA F2s
appearing at Birmingham Wheels each and every Saturday during March. The
four week run commences on Saturday 6th March, continues through 13th and
20th March and then concludes with the finale on the last weekend of the
month - Saturday 27th March is the date for the diary for the 2010 Spedeweek
Series Finale. Points scored during the first three weeks of the month, will
be compiled, to give a starting grid for the Spedeweek Series Finale.
To get the series underway, the entry list for the first meeting this
Saturday is a typically cosmopolitan one, with a good number of long
distance travellers due to join a host of Midlands based racers.
Former World Champion 647 Chris Burgoyne leads the Scottish entry which will
also number 641 Dennis Middler, 480 Garry Sime, 321 Holly Glenn, 637 Ally
Noble and 874 Fraser McLellan. From the other end of the UK map, 76 Chris
Rowe and 24 Jon Palmer are due to make the journey up from the south west.
From closer to home, 15 Steve Green, 154 Steve Green Jnr and 115 Mike Green
will enjoy their own intra-family battle for honours, along with other track
regulars at Birmingham Wheels such as 270 Mark Gibbs and 137 Russell
Chadwick, who were amongst the top attenders at the circuit last year.
The season's opening date at Birmingham has been something of a low grader
dream these past three years, with a yellow top final winner in 2007, a
white top final winner in 2008, and last year, 779 Cameron Pugh took the
honours from the yellow grade. Pugh will be amongst the stars when he goes
in search of success this time around.

THE WAIT IS OVER!
The 2010 stock car season is finally upon us, and the busiest season for
some time at Birmingham Wheels Raceway kicks off on Saturday March 6th.
Racing takes place almost every Saturday night from March to November at the
Bordesley Green quarter mile, and March 6th is the first of four consecutive
meetings for the BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars.
These 2-litre engined specials are hugely popular at Wheels Park and always
attend in large numbers, and the season opener kicks off the third annual
March Speedweeks competition.
March 6th, 13th and 20th are qualifying meetings for the Speedweeks
championship, with the final taking place on March 27th. Coventry-based
Stuart Fletcher (10) is the defending champion, but such is the nature of F2
racing at Wheels that almost anyone on the grid could snatch the title.
Also in action at the season opener are the 1400cc Stock Rods, with some big
names set to be among the entry of Vauxhall Novas, Citroen Saxos and Peugeot
106s. The entry should include World Champion Stuart Fox (829) as he begins
his bid to retain the gold roof, but he is sure to face tough competition.
Completing the entry are the spectacular body-bashing Bangers which are
always a fans’ favourite. Honda Civics, Cavaliers and Rovers are the
favoured cars for the formula, which was dominated by the Telford-based
Davies family last year but plenty of new names are waiting in the wings to
hit the big time.
There is no better way to welcome in the new motorsport season than a great
night out at Birmingham Wheels Park on Saturday 6th March. The raceway is
situated off Landor Street in the Bordesley Green area, close to St Andrew’s
football ground. For sat nav users, the postcode is B8 1AD. Action gets
underway at 6.45pm sharp.
Admission prices are just £12 for adults and £6 for children, with family
tickets available at just £30 (admitting two adults and up to three
children). Admission includes a souvenir programme, and great viewing is
available from both turns and the home straight, with hot and cold food and

THE I FACTOR – So you think you can race?
In an attempt to provide more racing for their grass-roots budget formulas
in 2010, Incarace Ltd have announced a series of events at Birmingham Wheels
and Northampton International Raceways, under the banner of The I Factor.
The all non-contact programmes will feature up to seven different formulas
racing at each event, and it promises to be action all the way for
spectators and fans alike. With so many races being held, there will be a
rapid turnaround between them – no waiting for drivers straggling in the
pits. Will they all make it to the track, or will the fans’ favourite be
shut out? Each night’s Finals are set to be the most keenly contested races,
with trophies presented to the first three finishers.
The points from the first seven events will be added up in readiness for I
Factor Finals night at Birmingham on Saturday November 13th, when the
champions will be decided.
The I Factor race dates are as follows:
3rd April Birmingham Wheels Raceway
1st May Birmingham Wheels Raceway
5th June Birmingham Wheels Raceway
10th July Northampton International Raceway
7th August Birmingham Wheels Raceway
11th September Northampton International Raceway
2nd October Birmingham Wheels Raceway
13th November Birmingham Wheels Raceway – I Factor Finals
All the above events kick off at 6pm sharp, with practice sessions available
during the afternoon.
The following formulas will be competing for the I Factor Championships:
Grand Prix Midgets – The UK’s oldest form of short track racing, the Midgets
are highly tuned low-slung single seater machines that produce incredible
bursts of acceleration and great side by side racing. The cars are designed
to keep competition as close as possible.
Hot Fords – Big grids of Ford Fiestas, Escorts, Kas and Orions are the order
of the day in this formula, with the cars designed to be simple to prepare
yet great fun to race and watch. Plenty of new drivers are promised for the
I Factor series to mix it with the established star names.
Incarods – Without a doubt the best choice for the beginner, Incarods are
small hatchbacks such as Citroen AXs and Vauxhall Novas with plenty of other
models present. Intended as a sister formula to the Hot Fords, the class has
firmly established itself as a favourite on the Midlands tracks.
MASCARs – American NASCAR racing in miniature! These little machines,
powered by Superbike-based engines, were hugely successful on their debut at
Incarace in 2009 and will look to become even more popular this season.
Modstox – Another formula aimed at newcomers to the sport, Modstox cars
resemble the big-league BriSCA Stock Cars but are powered by cheaper 850cc
engines. This long-established formula has impressed on previous visits to
Birmingham, and grids are set to grow this year.
Slick Cars – A mixture of cars from many different Hot Rod formulas,
including National Hot Rods, V6 Super Rods and Classic Hot Rods – all
running on racing slick tyres. The class debuted last year, and bigger grids
are hoped for this time around.
StoxKarts – Miniature stock cars based on Kart chassis, this class aims to
mix two of Britain’s most popular forms of motorsport. They may look
somewhat unusual, but are certainly quick!
